I AM A TRAVEL ENTHUSIAST AND PASSIONATE TRAVELER. I LIKE TO EXPLORE AND DISCOVER BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO AND LIFE IS SHORT

Me and my wife drove to Chikmagalur from Bangalore, a distance of approx. 250 Kms. via Hassan and Belur on the morning of 6th April The drive was pleasant, but for the numerous Toll Booths which take a toll on your wallet and time.
We had booked a home stay at a Coffee Estate. We were surprised and elated to find the entire Bungalow to ourselves as there was no other guest. The Coffee Estate is 11 Kms. from Chikmagalur town on a hill.
We were in the lap of nature with greenery all around, We stayed a total of two nights and two days.
We enjoyed going around the Coffee Estate which was blossoming. Pepper creepers adorned the shade trees. Friendly and simple folks and great food.
On 7th April we decided to go to the Shiva Temple atop Mullayanagiri. Mullayangiri is the highest peak in Karnataka at approx. 6,500 feet. Mullaiahnagiri is one of the best trekking places in South India. Mullayanagiri is 12 Kms. from Chikmagalur town.
There is a small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva on top of the hill.
You can drive up to a point, where you have to leave your car and trek to the Temple on top of the Hill. The stone steps are laid haphazardly and you have to be careful while ascending and descending.
Trekking at this place is a memorable experience. A little tough for Senior Citizens as the climb is steep and about 3 Kms. We made it with the blessings from Lord Shiva and came back safely.
