A food critic from Chennai

Ramalinga Vilas, Choolai:
Many people give me leads to eateries but the lead to Ramalinga Vilas came from my dad as he was recollecting his days when he used to have food from here. More the nostalgia attached more the love for any place. Ramalinga Vilas seems to be a pretty famous place among loyalists and the locals around this area.
Normal ambience and typical mess feeling. Probably one of the few places that serves Ratha Poriyal (Goat's Blood) along with their Meals (₹90). Gravies in meals were Fish, Chicken, Mutton and Karuvattu (Dry fish) Kuzhambu along with the usual Sambhar, Rasam and the works which ends with Payasam. Prawns Masala (₹160) was good portion wise and tastewise both. Mutton Fry (₹165) was good. Fish Fry (₹155), I felt was high on colour and was okayish. Omelette (₹35) was good.
I don't know why but I was expecting a Seeraga Samba Biryani but the Chicken Biryani (₹145) was Basmathi based. No qualms with the taste here, it was satisfactory.
Total bill was ₹935 inclusive of 5 Chappathis and 2 more Omelettes.
Location: Going from Purasaiwalkam side, keep going straight after taking the Doveton bridge. After few metres you'll find this place on the left corner before a junction right next to the Bus Stand.
