The right time to visit Omkareshwar is after July till the month of February. The Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga is situated on the bank of river Narmada. After one or two rainfalls the whole area covered with the greenery and the weather became very pleasant. People come to this place to first take the holy bath in the river Narmada and then they visit the main temple to worship the Lord Shiva.

People of all the ages would like to visit this place as it's a holy place and also surrounded with the very beautiful natural landscapes.

Three place are must to visit:

1. Omkareshwar Temple (especially the shyan aarti at Night-9. 00 PM)

2. Boating in river Narmada

3. Mamleshwar Temple on the opposite side of the Omkareshwar Temple.

There are many food destinations where you can enjoy the traditional Malwa Food like Daal Bafla/baati and also there is one Anna-chetra run by the trust where you can have the prasad in a very nominal rate and also there are some restaurants where every kind of food available from south Indian to fast food. There is one very good restaurant between Indore and Omkareshwar after crossing the bridge on the river Narmada, where all kind of food is available at its original Malwa touch.

People generally like to buy items associated with the worship of Lord Shiva like stones in the shape of lings which takes their shapes with the flow of the river, Nandi, Trishul etc. People also take the holy water of river Narmada which is used in the various rituals of Hindus.

Visitors must take great care while take bath in the river as it is very deep and every year people loss their life due to ignorance. In the summer season the temperature goes very high due to its rocks the region and humidity because of the river. Pandits of the temple are also very chipku type so its better to avoid them and if its important for you then you can take the help of the mandir counter where they will arrange the pandit for you at the nominal rate.
