The term can also & be referred to drawings done with ballpoint pen, ink and pen, oil paint and & watercolor. In common life, sketches made with oil paint and watercolor are & referred to as oil sketches. Let us look at tips and tricks not just for all & the beginners, but for also those who hold a good experience in it:

TIP #1 CHOOSING THE RIGHT TECHNIQUE

It is necessary to choose the right technique and the right tools to get the best possible sketch. Not only this, but choosing the right shading angle and right color can add life to your sketch. If you often encounter a problem while drawing curly hair, you can start it by drawing two vertical lines first. They can help a lot to get an idea of length and width of the curl which you want to make. After drawing a line which has a wave-like structure, make another line a little below it. Connect the open ends on both the sides after you see a structure like a curly ribbon. Remove the vertical lines and you can do some detailing to give it a finished look.

TIP # 2 KEEP THE SMUDGING TO MINIMUM

Smudging while making your sketch can make it look dull and less vibrant. It is advisable to keep an extra piece of paper under your hand while sketching. This will considerably reduce the smudging by your hand on your sketch. Smudging makes it difficult for you to make a clean looking drawing because it is often seen that the sketch loses its brilliance due to it.

TIP # 3 ADDING TEXTURE TO IMPROVE THE SKETCH

A beautiful texture can add a life to your sketch. Generally, people prefer watercolor crayons on the grainy side but the grain can give a brilliant look too. It is not needed to add water to your complete sketch but you can keep several portions untouched which can add a beautiful texture to the whole image. Keeping your shading less sketchy and at the same time, more subtle and smooth can help you a lot while shading for the sky. Be very careful to perfectly blend the pencil lines. You can use an extra piece of paper while doodling a big template of a charcoal pencil or soft graphite and a large blending stick to make sure that the soft dust is picked up while making up your image.

TIP # 4 USE THE ‘SILHOUTTE’ TECHNIQUE

There is a very profound technique used in making silhouettes in your image. Take a spare trace paper and after tracing your character, you can fill it with solid and bold colors. While shading, never keeps all the lines equal because small changes in darkness and widths of these lines can make your drawing visually attractive. It will need some time for you to be perfect to create a variety of marks on your image.

TIP # 5 RIGHT WAY TO HOLD THE PENCIL

Holding your pencil while shading at different angles and using different pencil grades can assist you to be perfect in making varied lines. Different hand positions on your pencil create different effects on your sketch. Holding the pencil near its end will help you to have a better control, but results in heavier strokes with darker markings. While holding the pencil up will result in lighter strokes with lighter markings. It is advisable to use a tracing paper while drawing to see your drawing from the reverse angle. Not just this, this will also help you to point out errors made while drawing and you can make a more accurate and successful drawing.

TIP # 6 THE ASYMETRICAL ELEMENT

If you like symmetry in the drawings you can add some small changes keeping some of the lines symmetrical but not all of the image. Asymmetrical elements in an image often rectify a pinch of boring repetition in your drawing. This is not just asymmetry which leads to beautifying your image but irregular lines on right places can also make your sketch look ravishing. It is highly recommended by the experts to use this technique of irregular lines for flat backgrounds, grass, bushes and while sketching loosely. This technique will add some texture if any sketch is short of it.

Apart from these tips, it is your constant dedication and hard work to practice sketching regularly. After getting some experience, you yourself will be able to make new techniques for making a better and successful sketch. So, prepare yourself with optimism and confidence and keep trying to create the masterpieces.
