Popular paneer delicacies that are easy to cook

Paneer dishes are a part and parcel of casual gatherings as well as lavish celebrations in India. Whether it is a house party or a multi-course meal at a posh restaurant, paneer always sneaks into the platter, thanks to the zillion ways in which it can be prepared. While its delicious taste is surely amazing, paneer dishes aren’t necessarily as difficult to make as they seem to be.

Here we are, with three of your favourite paneer recipes that are easy-to-cook and delicious to eat.

Paneer Tikka:

Paneer Tikka is one of the most popular starters in India, and religiously makes a trip to every table in every restaurant.
Paneer tikka

INGREDIENTS:

  • 250 gms cottage cheese
  • ½ cup capsicum, diced in square shape
  • ½ cup onions, diced layer by layer
  • 1 cup hung curd
  • ½ tbsp carom seeds (ajwain)
  • ½ tbsp pepper
  • ½ tbsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp chaat masala
  • 1 tbsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp dry mango powder
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required

METHOD:

  • In a large bowl, add curd and all remaining ingredients except cottage cheese and vegetables
  • Mix well and then add paneer cubes and vegetables
  • Keep aside for 1 to 2 hours for proper marination
  • Heat some oil in a pan and start placing the coated vegetables in it – capsicums first, followed by onions and finally paneer cubes
  • Cook on medium flame and cover it for a minute
  • Flip all the vegetables and continue the process until everything is properly cooked
  • Serve with mint chutney

Chilli Paneer:

This lovechild of Indian spices and Chinese cuisine is simply the best, no matter what you serve it with.
Chilli Paneer

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup paneer cubes
  • 1 cup diced capsicums
  • 1 cup onions, diced layer by layer
  • spring onions for garnish
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp red chilli sauce
  • 1 tbsp green chilli sauce
  • ¼ tbsp sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required

METHOD

  • Deep fry paneer cubes and keep them aside
  • Heat some oil in a pan and add ginger garlic paste
  • Add capsicums and onions and stir fry for a minute on low flame
  • Meanwhile, mix the three sauces together and add black pepper to it
  • Add this mix to the pan and add paneer cubes as well
  • Add sugar and salt and stir fry well
  • Garnish with spring onions and serve hot

Paneer pizza pockets:

Paneer pizza pockets are an all-time hit with people of all age groups.
Paneer Pizza pockets

INGREDIENTS

For the pockets:

  • 200 gms plain flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • Salt to taste

For the stuffing:

  • 1 cup chopped paneer
  • 1 tbsp crumbled paneer
  • ½ cup boiled sweet corn kernels
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 3 tbsp dried oregano
  • 2 tbsp chilli flakes
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

METHOD:

  • Add salt and baking powder to plain flour, knead it using buttermilk and keep aside
  • Heat oil in a pan and add paneer and corn kernels to it
  • Add oregano, chilli flakes, black pepper and salt and mix well
  • Add tomato ketchup and grated cheese to the pan and stir for half a minute
  • Make small balls of dough and roll it to a thin layer
  • Put the stuffing over this layer and fold it
  • Shallow fry these rolls on low flame
  • Flip them and keep frying until the covering turns golden brown
  • Cut into slices and serve
